Since 1930, Johns Hopkins University has had a longstanding partnership with India in pioneering research and innovations. This partnership has saved millions of lives through the development of oral rehydration therapy and life-saving vaccines. In the last 10 years, more than 160 JHU faculty members have worked with 100+ Indian partners on several research projects. In 2020, Johns Hopkins University established the Gupta-Klinsky India Institute to focus, amplify and coordinate JHU’s efforts with India. GKII stands as a small but dynamic university wide platform committed to deepen knowledge and expertise on critical societal challenges with global implications. Its primary mission is mobilizing the collective expertise of Johns Hopkins, fostering collaboration with Indian partners and leveraging requisite resources to drive positive societal change through impactful research, education, policy development, and practice.

Domain: KCDH-A has launched the Ashoka-GKII Breakthrough Grants Program between Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Ashoka University faculty.

Digital Transformations for Health Lab (DTH-Lab) is a multidisciplinary platform and global consortium of academia, research, public and private sectors aiming to strengthen digital and data governance to improve young people’s health and well-being and support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

NIMS University is a large, self-financed university in Jaipur, Rajasthan, offering over 450 programs across diverse fields like medicine, engineering, and management. Founded by Dr. Balvir S. Tomar, it is recognized by regulatory bodies such as the UGC, MCI, and AICTE and has over 150 international collaborations. The university emphasizes academic excellence and innovation, providing a wide range of facilities and placement assistance to its students.

Domain: KCDH-A has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NIMS University. The MoU was formalised to drive transformation in healthcare, aligning with global efforts towards research and education in global health. Through this partnership, we aim to work in the area of biomedical sciences, health technologies, and AI/digital health, driving innovation in healthcare delivery.

The University  of Bern is a public research university in the Swiss capital of Bern. It was founded in 1834. It is regulated and financed by the Canton of Bern. It is a comprehensive university offering a broad choice of courses and programs in eight faculties and some 150 institutes.

Domain: Antibiotic resistance is a growing challenge that affects healthcare systems worldwide, making it harder to treat infections effectively. To address this issue, Ashoka University is working alongside ANRESIS, the Swiss Centre for Antibiotic Resistance. ANRESIS is a leading organization in Switzerland that monitors antibiotic resistance and how antibiotics are used across the country. This collaboration combines Ashoka’s expertise in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research with ANRESIS’s robust surveillance system to better understand and tackle this pressing global health problem.

Delhi University, formally the University of Delhi, is a central university located in Delhi, India. It was founded in 1922 by an Act of the Central Legislative Assembly and is recognized as an Institute of Eminence (IoE) by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university has 16 faculties and 86 departments distributed across its North and South campuses, and remaining colleges across the region. It has 91 constituent colleges. Delhi University is one of the largest university systems in the world with over 400,000 students on its campuses and affiliated colleges. The Vice President of India serves as the university chancellor. The university is ranked 11th by the National Institutional Ranking Framework 2023.

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the 23 IITs created to be Centers of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India. Established as College of Engineering in 1961, the Institute was later declared as an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” and was renamed as “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi”. It was then accorded the status of a Deemed University with powers to decide its own academic policy, to conduct its own examinations, and to award its own degrees. Since its inception, over 48000 have graduated from IIT Delhi in various disciplines including Engineering, Physical Sciences, Management and Humanities & Social Sciences. Of these, nearly 5070 received Ph.D. degrees. The number of students who graduated with a B.Tech. degree is over 15738. The rest obtained Master’s Degrees in Engineering, Sciences and Business Administration. These alumni today work as scientists, technologists, business managers and entrepreneurs. There are several alumni who have moved away from their original disciplines and have taken to administrative services, active politics or are with NGOs. In doing so, they have contributed significantly to the building of this nation, and to industrialization around the world.

International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIITH) is an autonomous university, founded as a not-for-profit public private partnership (N-PPP) in 1998, and is the first IIIT in India under this model. Over the years, the institute has evolved strong research programmes in various areas, with an emphasis on technology and applied research for industry and society. The institute facilitates interdisciplinary research and a seamless flow of . Several world-renowned centers of excellence are part of IIITH’s research portfolio. It has established various joint collaboration and co-innovation models with an industry outreach spanning significant national and multinational companies. Its innovative curriculum allows students the flexibility of selecting their courses and projects. Apart from academics the institute provides students with a comprehensive environment that promotes art and culture, sports, societal contributions and self-governance. Even undergraduate students get to participate in ongoing research and technology development – an opportunity unprecedented in India. As a result, a vibrant undergraduate programme co-exists along with a strong postgraduate programme.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras or IITM) is a public research university and technical institute located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the eight public Institutes of Eminence of India. As an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), IIT Madras is also recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. Founded in 1959 with technical, academic and financial assistance from the then government of West Germany, IITM was the third Indian Institute of Technology established by the Government of India. IIT Madras has consistently ranked as the best engineering institute in India by the Ministry of Education's National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) since the ranking's inception in 2016.

Christian Medical College, Vellore, widely known as CMC, Vellore, is a private, nonprofit, Christian minority community-run medical college and hospital in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. This institute includes a network of primary, secondary and tertiary care hospitals. The institute, constituent college is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.

Domain: KCDH-A has entered into an agreement with the Christian Medical College for our ongoing project on  "Augmented intelligent clinical support systems to aid decision-making for pregnancy outcomes after IVF." 

Max Healthcare Institute Limited, commonly known as Max Healthcare, stands as one of India’s most extensive healthcare organizations. With a presence in NCR Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Maharashtra, the institute manages 17 healthcare facilities comprising over 3500 beds. The majority of its bed capacity, approximately 85%, is situated in Metro/Tier 1 cities. In addition to its hospitals, Max Healthcare extends its services through a homecare business named Max@Home and a pathology business known as Max Labs. Max@Home specializes in delivering health and wellness services directly to individuals’ homes, while Max Labs provides pathology services beyond the confines of the hospital network.

MyHealthcare is a digital healthcare ecosystem that works with hospitals, clinics, its doctors, caregivers and enhances the patient care continuum processes. The core focus of MyHealthcare is to bridge the healthcare delivery gap using a data-driven care process. As a service offering MyHealthcare is designed to assist hospitals and clinics in building out and scaling their digital healthcare roadmap.

Domain: KCDH-A works with Myhealthcare on areas such as AI and Data Science, Open-Source Large Language Models, Interoperability, Common Data Model, Antibiotic usage, research on Respiratory Infections, etc.

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is a public private initiative that has collaboratively evolved through consultations with multiple constituencies including Indian and international academia, state and central governments, multi & bi-lateral agencies and civil society groups. PHFI is a response to redress the limited institutional capacity in India for strengthening training, research and policy development in the area of Public Health. Structured as an independent foundation, PHFI adopts a broad, integrative approach to public health, tailoring its endeavours to Indian conditions and bearing relevance to countries facing similar challenges and concerns. The PHFI focuses on broad dimensions of public health that encompass promotive, preventive and therapeutic services, many of which are frequently lost sight of in policy planning as well as in popular understanding. The Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, launched PHFI on March 28, 2006, in New Delhi. PHFI recognizes the fact that meeting the shortfall of health professionals is imperative to a sustained and holistic response to the public health concerns in the country which in turn requires health care to be addressed not only from the scientific perspective of what works, but also from the social perspective of, who needs it the most.

Centre for Chronic Disease Control (CCDC) is a New Delhi-based not-for-profit organization, established in December 2000. The mission of CCDC is primarily intended to address the growing challenge of chronic diseases, in varied settings of the developing countries through: Knowledge generation, which can inform policies and empower programmes for the prevention and control of chronic diseases Knowledge translation intended to operationalize research results by bridging the critical gaps between relevant research and effective implementation, through analytic work, capacity building, advocacy and development of educational resources for enhancing the empowerment of people and professionals. CCDC has been recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. It also holds registration under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976.

Domain: KCDH-A frequently collaborates with CCDC on projects related with health and environment.

Prashanti Cancer Care Mission is a well-known NGO in the culturally rooted city of  Pune in the state of Maharashtra, India. PCCM is a registered, public charitable trust founded by C.B. Koppiker, an internationally renowned Breast Onco-Surgeon.

Domain: Through this partnership, Ashoka University and PCCM aim to deepen understanding of this challenging disease and explore innovative approaches to improve outcomes for patients. By combining expertise and resources, this collaboration represents a step forward in the fight against one of the most difficult-to-treat types of cancer.

ICGA is a mission of the ICGA Foundation to build a comprehensive and “responsible” free-to-access database of genetic information on cancers common in India, addressing the critical need for localized data. By linking this information to clinical outcomes, we aim to empower researchers and clinicians to improve treatments, advance personalized medicine, and save lives. Together, we can revolutionize cancer care for India’s population and create a future where cancer is better understood and more effectively treated.

Committed to building a better, healthier future for the nearly two billion people in the Region, WHO is working with the 10 Member States to address persisting and emerging epidemiological and demographic challenges.

Domain: KCDH-A and WHO- SEARO signed a collaborative agreement on digital first health systems and Responsible AI. The centre also co-hosts the webinar series on Responsible AI in Healthcare with the Office.

NATHEALTH is the pivot for the healthcare ecosystem. It aligns itself with the aspirations of the different forums - medical technology, innovation, providers, diagnostics, insurance, home care, senior care, education and private equity/value chain, to build a unified industry voice and power the next wave of progress in Indian healthcare.

ACCESS Health International is a non-profit think tank, advisory group and implementation partner dedicated to transforming health systems globally. Since their inception in 2007, Access Health International has worked to ensure that people everywhere can access high-quality, affordable healthcare. To achieve this goal, ACCESS Health believes in a comprehensive health systems approach to address and improve the key building blocks of health. 

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, is the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research. Established in 1911, it is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world.

Domain: Ashoka collaborates with ICMR through the National Disease Modeling Consortium as a co-member.

All-India Institute of Medical Sciences was established as an institution of national importance by an Act of Parliament with the objects to develop patterns of teaching in Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education in all its branches so as to demonstrate a high standard of Medical Education in India; to bring together in one place educational facilities of the highest order for the training of personnel in all important branches of health activity; and to attain self-sufficiency in Post-graduate Medical Education. The Institute has comprehensive facilities for teaching, research and patient-care. As provided in the Act, AIIMS conducts teaching programs in medical and para-medical courses both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and awards its own degrees. Teaching and research are conducted in 42 disciplines. In the field of medical research AIIMS is the lead, having more than 600 research publications by its faculty and researchers in a year. AIIMS also runs a College of Nursing and trains students for B.Sc.(Hons.) Nursing post-certificate) degrees. Twenty-five clinical departments including four super specialty centers manage practically all types of disease conditions with support from pre- and Para-clinical departments. However, burn cases, dog-bite cases and patients suffering from infectious diseases are not entertained in the AIIMS Hospital. AIIMS also manages a 60-bedded hospital in the Comprehensive Rural Health Centre at Ballabgarh in Haryana and provides health cover to about 2.5 lakh population through the Centre for Community Medicine.

RSSDI was founded in 1972 by Prof. M.M.S. Ahuja who conceived the idea for establishing the society for ensuring academic activity and research and holding scientific meetings and providing training facilities for research. The aim of RSSDI is to conduct and facilitate diabetes research in India, which has a direct bearing on diabetes clinical practice and the prevention and management of the condition.

The Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence was formed to build and deploy AI solutions that benefit underserved populations in developing countries, which it has actively been doing since mid-2021. They partner with government bodies and global nonprofits to ensure that their innovations will improve the lives of those who need them the most.

IAPEN INDIA is dedicated to advancing the rigorous science and evidence-based practice of clinical nutrition and metabolic care. By integrating cutting-edge research with multidisciplinary collaboration, we address the pervasive challenge of malnutrition- both disease-related and socioeconomic, in hospital, community, and long-term care settings.

Domain: KCDH-A collaborates with IAPEN to jointly develop course for clinicians

Teleradiology Solutions (TRS), rated the number 1 National Teleradiology company in the United states by KLAS in 2011 was founded in 2002 by two Yale University trained physicians. It provides teleradiology services (i.e., CT, MRI, Xray, ultrasounds reports) to over 150 hospitals in the United States. Teleradiology Solutions was among the first teleradiology companies to be accredited by the US Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JC). The company was showcased to US President Obama as an example of health care innovation on his Nov 2010 trip to India. Teleradiology Solutions is a health care company that uses technology for varied purposes from e-teaching to teleradiology to telemedicine, making it a company with a difference.
